In the spring of 2008, John Spiker joined the band Filter. He played bass on Steve Earle‘s “Washington Square Serenade” in 2007, which won a Grammy for “Best Contemporary Folk Album”. Spiker also plays with Tenacious D, and has toured with them through North America, Europe and Australia. He will be playing the UK’s Reading and Leeds festivals with them in the fall of ’08. When he is not touring, he does session work in Los Angeles playing bass, as well as producing and engineering various projects. He also plays bass and sings in Kyle Gass‘s side project “Trainwreck“.
